Dinh Ngo's Story​

We’re Moonlight Pianos, and we offer piano tuning in Surrey, as well as repairs, servicing and restoration.

My name is Dinh Ngo.

I have the accolade of being a member of the prestigious Pianoforte Tuners’ Association.  Founded in 1913, and with exacting examination criteria that not many can pass, the PTA expects high standards of skill and expertise from its members.  

I’m proud to offer you the peace of mind to know that my work will be precise, high-quality and personalised exactly to your needs – or rather, to those of your much-loved piano.

Also, I have perfect pitch, and the instinctive ability to tune pianos by ear to a faultless, precise tone.

Dinh Ngo's Background

I developed a great love of music as a child, with the piano a particular fascination for me.  Having joined a choir at the extremely tender age of 5, I then began my music training aged 7 at Dong Tam Catholic School in Viet Nam – rising to the role of conductor at the age of 17.

  • Under the tutelage of Father Tien Dung (a first class graduate Doctor of Music from the Conservatory of Rome), I completed a music programme in Harmonies, Counterpoint and Fugue.
  • I learned a complete programme in Music Theory and Solfege from the well-known musician Professor Hung Lan.
  • I also undertook a course in choir conducting, taught by renowned musician and choir conductor, Hai Linh.

After graduating from the Conservatory of Saigon City with a B.Mus. degree in Music Theory, Music Composition and Conducting, I taught harmony at the Credo Catholic School, continuing to work in piano tuning and repairs until I came to the UK in 2001.

My volunteer work has included teaching music seminarian at Hai Phong and Hung Hoa Diocese.

In my now adopted country, I worked for a well-known piano company to develop my skills. I felt honoured to tune pianos in Windsor Castle, New Victoria Theatre Woking and for an exciting open-air concert at Ascot Racecourse.

Establishing my own business as a piano technician to offer piano tuning in Surrey and its surrounding areas has given me great joy.  It’s enabled me to help others enjoy piano music just as much as I do.

With over 35 years’ specialist experience, I can manage both upright and grand pianos at private and concert levels.

It goes without saying that Moonlight Pianos’ customers are many and varied, with several long-standing clients who simply wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else.  Based in the South East, I offer services for private individuals, schools, theatres, concert venues, professional musicians – anywhere there’s a piano; anywhere there are people who play them.

Mr Dinh Ngo has reconditioned my 1930s John Broadwood & Sons upright piano and has brought back to life a barely playable 1880s Steinway & Sons grand. I am delighted with improvement in the quality of the sound. The appearance of the piano is also much enhanced. I have observed that Mr Ngo gets great satisfaction from producing a pleasing sound from neglected instruments. He is careful, diligent and reliable.
