I am a fully trained and qualified piano tuner and technician and a Member of the Pianoforte Tuners’ Association, with over 25 years experience in the piano industry.
I have recently set up my own business, Moonlight Pianos, based in Addlestone, Surrey. With my extensive experience and expertise in piano tuning, servicing and repair gained over the past 25 years, both in upright and grand pianos and at private and concert levels, I can offer a high quality and reliable service that can cater to any requirement.
I have an expanding customer base, located throughout the South East, including schools, theatres, concert venues and professional musicians.
Biography, qualifications and experience
Music is my love and my passion. I began my music training at the age of 7 at Dong Tam Catholic school in Viet Nam, first as a member of the junior choir, rising to conductor after completing a conducting course for gifted music students at the age of 17. I have continued to conduct many church choirs over the past 29 years.
As a young boy I loved the piano, and was very keen to learn about its structure, beginning my technical training at a family friend’s piano workshop, learning to tune and repair a basic piano instrument.
I then studied music at the Conservatory of Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) in Viet Nam, obtaining a B.Mus. degree in Theory, Music Composition and Conducting. After graduation, I taught solfège and harmony at Credo Catholic school in Viet Nam, and continued to work in piano tuning and repair until leaving for the UK in 2001.
After two months in England, I started employement at Sheargold Pianos, a well established piano company in Surrey. During my time there I received further training in the Steinway standard of piano tuning, repairing, servicing and rebuilding. Subsequently, I was given responsibility for the workshop, tuning and servicing the showroom pianos and as an outside tuner with clients including Windsor Castle, New Victoria Theatre Woking, the Ascot Racecourse open air concert, and a variety of schools, churches and music teachers.
